Renewable energy revenue amendment requires federal action | Louisiana
SUMMARY: Louisiana voters are considering a constitutional amendment directing federal funds from offshore wind projects to the Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority. Over 960,000 votes have been cast. Concurrently, Louisiana’s U.S. House delegation is proposing legislation to allocate federal oil and gas revenues, along with wind farm revenues, to the state. However, if the bill isn’t signed by President Biden, the amendment would lose its effectiveness. The legislation ensures that closer states receive a larger share of revenue from offshore wind projects, while also adjusting Gulf oil and gas revenue allocations to favor state funding for conservation efforts.

First Gordon Plaza house to be demolished to build a community solar farm
SUMMARY: Demolition crews are set to begin work at Gordon Plaza, where the first home will be knocked down to create a solar energy farm. The site, which was once the Agriculture Street landfill, has faced significant controversy since its 1981 development due to toxic sludge containing lead and other carcinogens contaminating homes. Homeowners previously received millions in buyouts. The demolition marks the start of a two-year process to design and construct the facility, allowing residents to purchase access to the solar farm at a low cost, ultimately providing discounts on their electricity bills.
Officials say the process to design and build the facility could take about two years
