Remembering When Marilyn Monroe Won Miss Mississippi
SUMMARY: The film “We’re Not Married” may not have been filmed in Mississippi, but it takes place in the state and features Marilyn Monroe as Miss Senatobia. Monroe’s character competes for the Miss Mississippi title in the small town of Senatobia, which has since grown into a community of about 7,000 people. The film is a romantic comedy about a Justice of the Peace who mistakenly marries couples, leading to a scandal when it comes to light. Despite this setback, Monroe’s character enters the Miss Mississippi contest as Miss Senatobia and ultimately wins the title.

Food Chain Drama | Our Mississippi Home
SUMMARY: Naturalist Sharon Milligan witnessed a dramatic encounter at a pond where a Banded Water Snake captured a Two-toed Amphiuma by its tail. Knowing the snake’s determination, the outcome was clear: the amphiuma would soon be swallowed whole despite its ability to deliver a painful bite. Water snakes are equipped with flexible jaws to consume large prey. This encounter highlighted the amphiuma’s rarity, as they are nocturnal and primarily inhabit burrows. Both species sit at the top of their local aquatic food chains, with water snakes able to tackle larger prey than the amphibians. Sharon’s documentation enriches understanding of these creatures.
