Reeves, Presley campaign ahead of General Election

SUMMARY: A bridge on U.S. 80 over the Pearl River, at the Hinds/Rankin County line in Jackson, Mississippi, will be closed for several months starting December 2, 2024, due to deck replacement by the Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT). The closure is expected to last until summer 2025. Motorists are advised to use alternate routes, including I-20, I-55, State Street, and local roads. MDOT will install message boards to alert drivers about the upcoming closure.

SUMMARY: WREG is seeking records and bodycam footage of an incident in Southaven, Mississippi, where a police officer allegedly pointed a stun gun at 9-year-old Ahmar Anderson on Nov. 7. The officer mistook him for a robbery suspect, but Ahmar was wearing a purple and white letterman jacket, not matching the description. Ahmar’s mother, Shaquita Anderson Wade, believes he was targeted due to his size and race. Despite the incident, Ahmar has received support, including from police officers, and his mother hopes he feels safe calling the authorities in the future.
