Reeves joins 23 governors in opposing pandemic treaty proposal with World Health Organization
SUMMARY: Governor Tate Reeves, alongside 23 other states, opposes President Biden’s forthcoming global pandemic treaty with the WHO, which aims to replace current international health regulations with new pandemic-related policies. The governors, concerned about WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus’s authority to declare health emergencies, argue this could enable the unelected WHO to dictate U.S. health responses and infringe on state rights. Conversely, the U.S. Department of State believes the treaty will enhance pandemic preparedness and international cooperation. The WHO faced criticism for its handling of COVID-19, particularly regarding the virus’s origins and China’s investigation.

Mississippi delegation urges Trump to approve FEMA assistance after mid-March tornadoes
SUMMARY: Mississippi’s federal lawmakers have united in urging President Trump to approve Governor Tate Reeves’ request for a federal disaster declaration after severe storms on March 14–15 killed seven, injured nearly 30, and caused significant damage across 25 counties. The National Weather Service confirmed 18 tornadoes touched down. Senators Wicker and Hyde-Smith and Representatives Thompson, Kelly, Guest, and Ezell signed a bipartisan letter supporting expedited aid and individual assistance for 14 counties. Governor Reeves emphasized the urgent need for federal help, despite ongoing state efforts. If approved, this would mark Trump’s first FEMA action since criticizing the agency and threatening cuts.
