Red Cross hopes to expand in Perry Co.
SUMMARY: The Southeast chapter of the Mississippi Red Cross is aiming to create more resources for those living in Perry County. They are asking for support from the community and the Board of Supervisors to help provide educational resources, facilities, and shelters during disasters. Volunteers like Bennie Crawford are essential to these efforts, and they encourage everyone to get involved. By participating in activities like mock shelter experiences, individuals can learn how to help people in need. Jay Harrison from WDAM 7 is helping spread awareness and encourages people to learn more about the Red Cross and volunteer opportunities.
Disaster program specialist Zoe Anderson said after a slew of fires in the Pine Belt recently, the chapter’s goal is also to find or build permanent shelters.
