Record crowds expected to take to the air and hit the roads for Thanksgiving
SUMMARY: Despite inflation and holiday travel mishaps in the past, a record number of Americans are set to travel for Thanksgiving. A storm could disrupt travel plans, but preparations have been made with more air traffic controllers and better equipment. Airfare and gas prices are down compared to last year. After the travel chaos last December, airlines have improved their operations, with fewer cancellations reported this year. Complaints about airline services have risen, however, and airlines have blamed air traffic control for not handling growing air traffic efficiently. Airlines have rebounded in staffing since the pandemic, with an increase in flights for the Thanksgiving period.

SUMMARY: A Delta Air Lines flight from Minneapolis to Toronto flipped over while landing at Pearson Airport on February 17, 2025.
