Rankin County Undersheriff Paul Holley resigns amid controversy
SUMMARY: Rankin County Undersheriff Paul Holley has resigned from his position in the wake of revelations about misconduct within the Rankin County Sheriff’s Office. In August, five deputies pleaded guilty to abusing two Black men during a warrantless raid and were sentenced to jail time for their crimes. It was also discovered that Sheriff Bryan Bailey had used his position to obtain phone records from his then-married girlfriend through grand jury subpoenas, using them to spy on her and another employee. Despite calls for his resignation, Bailey has stated that he will not step down.
