Warning for drug 'Kratom' after death of Northshore woman

Parish coroner Dr. Christopher Tape reported that she succumbed after taking a high dose of kratom, which is often used for sedation and to alleviate opioid withdrawal symptoms. While kratom is legal and meant for low doses, it can be dangerous when mixed with other substances or for individuals with certain conditions. The supplement is not regulated by the FDA, raising concerns about its safety.
