Prosecutors oppose new judge for man accused of trying to assassinate Trump | National
SUMMARY: Ryan Wesley Routh, 58, accused of attempting to assassinate former President Donald Trump, is seeking a new judge, claiming a potential conflict of interest with U.S. Judge Aileen Cannon, appointed by Trump. Routh’s defense argues that Cannon’s past praise from Trump could compromise impartiality. Federal prosecutors oppose the motion, stating Routh’s arguments lack legal merit. Routh faces multiple charges, including attempted assassination and weapon possession as a felon, and he has pleaded not guilty. Evidence includes a sniper’s nest near Trump’s golf course and a note in which Routh solicits help to complete the assassination attempt.

Community still flooded after Hurricane Milton, nearly two weeks later
SUMMARY: Nearly two weeks after Hurricane Milton, the Feather Rock mobile home community in Valrico remains underwater, with residents unable to return home. Concerns from the community prompted ABC Action News to seek answers from Hillsborough County officials. Residents are pushing for immediate action to drain the flooded areas, as water from various locations has nowhere to go, creating a “water traffic jam.” Officials explained that Lake Valrico is still too high to pump out water, contributing to the flooding. County representatives assured that they are monitoring the situation and will act once conditions allow.
