SUMMARY: Several months after a powerful tornado hit Rolling Fork and left the community devastated, residents are slowly rebuilding their lives. Dianne McDaniel, a storm victim, is back in her home and working at a makeshift county hospital in tents inside an armory. Tracy Harden, who runs Chuck’s Dairy Bar, operates her business from a donated food truck, hoping for more customers to return. However, the recovery process has been slow, with only eight storm victim families placed in trailers by FEMA. The Red Cross is still funding hotel rooms for 300 residents outside of Rolling Fork. The community is trying to convince renters to return and buy homes, while still recovering from the storm’s impact.

Tupelo waiting on Target to make decision on new store

Volunteers requested for local “Grow-a-Row” program to combat hunger

SUMMARY: A local nonprofit, Petal Healing Garden, is collaborating with the Forest County Agricultural Extension Office on the Grow a Row program to combat food insecurity.
