Pro-Palestinian protests in New York City | FOX 7 Austin
SUMMARY: Pro-Palestinian protests have erupted outside colleges in New York City, particularly at Columbia University, where some demonstrators were arrested, and a statue was vandalized with red paint. Protesters accuse the university of supporting Israel amid ongoing violence in Gaza, describing the situation as genocidal. The protests intensified after the execution of six hostages, including an Israeli American woman, by Hamas on October 7. Jewish students are anxious following last year’s incidents of anti-Semitism. Columbia’s new president is meeting with students from both perspectives as protests continue, reflecting the deep divides over the conflict.
Some protesters have been arrested after more demonstrations started outside colleges in New York City. FOX’s Connor Hansen has more on that and the latest on cease fire negotiations.
