President Biden drops out of presidential race, endorses Vice President Kamala Harris
SUMMARY: President Joe Biden announced he is withdrawing from the presidential race due to pressure from within his party following a poor debate performance against Donald Trump. In a statement on social media, he expressed that stepping down was in the best interest of the Democratic Party and the nation. He will focus on his presidential duties for the remainder of his term and has endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic nominee. Former President Obama praised Biden’s leadership and character. The decision, influenced by Democratic lawmakers, comes as the party prepares for the upcoming convention in Chicago.
This comes after growing pressure from his own party to pull out of the election after his disastrous performance in the debate against Donald Trump.

Tropical update: Tropical wave in Bay of Campeche now has a 70% chance of development
SUMMARY: Meteorologist Chris Ramirez reports the latest tropical update, noting that the Gulf of Mexico is being monitored for potential heavy rain this weekend. A disturbance in the Bay of Campeche has a 70% chance of developing within the next week. Currently disorganized, weather models suggest it may move into the southern Gulf, affecting Southeast Texas by Wednesday and Thursday. With a cold front retreating north, tropical moisture will likely bring rain back to coastal areas. As the peak of hurricane season continues, residents should stay alert for updates and potential impacts. The next named storm will be Francine.
Regardless of if it develops, the system should bring areawide rain to Southeast Texas.
