Preserving Mississippi History: McComb’s Palace Theater Raffles Off Taylor Swift Tickets for Continued Renovations
SUMMARY: The Palace Theater, established in 1939 by brothers Najeeb and Haleem Solomon, served as a cultural hub in Downtown McComb for 50 years before closing in 1979 and falling into disrepair. Jamey Hewitt and Jason Von took ownership to revitalize the site, overcoming structural issues with help from local artisans and the Solomon family. They founded the Palace Theater Foundation to preserve the historic venue, which now serves as a multipurpose community space. A raffle for Taylor Swift concert tickets is currently underway, with proceeds supporting ongoing renovations to restore the theater to its former glory.

Comfort Food for the Thanksgiving Meal Doesn’t Have to be Stuffy
SUMMARY: For Thanksgiving, side dishes need to offer both healthful options and comforting favorites. While cornbread dressing is a staple in many households, it is not required for mine, often being replaced by mashed potatoes. I make a make-ahead mashed potato dish that can be stored for up to a week, making it perfect for large gatherings. Additionally, a slow-cooker macaroni and cheese recipe, which can also be prepared in advance, has become a crowd favorite. Both dishes save time and provide delicious comfort for holiday meals. May your Thanksgiving be full of blessings, whether it’s with dressing, potatoes, or mac-n-cheese.
