Prep basketball season tips off this week with a several games and events
SUMMARY: The “Southern Six” in Mississippi has had a dry spell when it comes to state basketball championships in the past decade. The last boys team to win a title was Gulfport in 2014, and the last girls team was Bay High in 2013. This week, all 48 teams in the “Southern Six” will be aiming to break that drought and bring home a state title as the regular season tips off. There are several season-openers and tournaments taking place, including a round-robin affair hosted by Pass Christian and one-day events hosted by Gulfport and St. Martin.
