Op-Ed: The conservative media revolution has arrived | Opinion
SUMMARY: The media has historically shaped politics by controlling narratives and suppressing dissenting opinions, often favoring elite perspectives. The rise of digital media initially promised democratization, but major tech companies colluded with traditional media to enforce censorship. This changed when Elon Musk acquired Twitter/X, leading to a significant shift in the media landscape. Politicians began utilizing long-form discussions on platforms like podcasts, allowing them to convey their messages more effectively. As misinformation from legacy media diminished, conservative voices gained visibility. Carswell notes that the empowerment of citizen media presents a major opportunity for conservative think tanks as idea formation becomes more decentralized.
