A popular South Beach restaurant, Sanini Boros, reports food and beverage prices have surged by 30-40% due to the strikes, as they heavily rely on imports from Greece. Winter Haven city officials vote to remove fluoride from water supply
SUMMARY: Winter Haven city leaders voted 3-2 to end the addition of fluoride to the water supply, a practice that began in 1986. Commissioner Brad Danler cited a recent federal court ruling that mandated the EPA to strengthen fluoride regulations, highlighting potential health risks, particularly for children. Concerns expressed by residents included possible impacts on IQ, immune systems, and bone health. Some medical professionals warned that ending fluoridation could disproportionately affect low-income families lacking access to alternative fluoride sources. Danler proposed reallocating the $48,000 currently spent on fluoridation to support charities providing fluoride products for disadvantaged children. Fluoride removal is expected by January 1st.
