Port damage exercise crucial to enabling fleet and adds jobs on the Coast
A training exercise for the Seabees was hosted today.
The Port of Gulfport is hosting the Seabees Field Training exercise. It’s a full-on training operation which features new road installations, demolition, and port damage repairs. LCDR Mike Duffy with Underwater Construction Team 1 said, “Port damage repair is crucial to enabling our fleet and the ability for us to re-arm, re-fuel, and re-supply our fleet in order to enable and distribute maritime operations to keep our fleet in the flight.”

SUMMARY: Easter Weekend on the Mississippi Gulf Coast offers various fun events. The Mississippi Aquarium hosts an Easter Egg hunt with special penguin eggs and a golden egg prize. The City of Waveland features a parade with floats, classic cars, and marching bands, followed by an egg hunt and petting zoo. Green Acres Creamery in Saucier offers an egg hunt and photos with the Easter Bunny. Hattiesburg’s zoo hosts an Eggz-otic egg hunt, with 250 eggs hidden and a big prize for the golden egg. On Easter Day, Mosaic Church holds a service at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum, open to the public.

SUMMARY: Hunter Harper, a senior dual-sport athlete at Vancleave High School, is this week’s WXXV Student Athlete of the Week. He rushed over 900 yards during his final football season, leading the Bulldogs to their 16th playoff appearance. Harper, who was pivotal in helping his baseball team win the school’s second State Championship, is now striving for back-to-back titles. With a 5-1 record, 39 strikeouts, and a .384 batting average, he is confident heading into playoffs. Harper values his leadership role and aims to inspire younger athletes.
