Popp’s Ferry Road extension groundbreaking brings long-awaited project to life
SUMMARY: Groundbreaking for the $27 million extension of Pops Ferry Road, which will connect to Highway 90, took place today, concluding decades of planning. Originally proposed by former mayor AJ Holloway in 2004 and prioritized by current Mayor Fuo Gillich since 2015, the project aims to enhance economic development and traffic flow. The extension spans 1.5 miles and includes $2 million for reworking the Pops Ferry interchange. The project will not only ease congestion but will also provide an evacuation route during hurricanes and improve access to the Mississippi Coast Coliseum. Completion is expected in two years.

Volunteers gather for Annual Mississippi Coastal Cleanup to remove trash from beaches

They worked diligently to remove litter and debris, contributing to ongoing efforts to protect the beaches from marine debris. Volunteers received shirts for their participation and were entered into a raffle for a chance to win a kayak. This event marked the final coastal cleanup of the year, highlighting the community’s commitment to maintaining the beauty of the shoreline.
Every October, volunteers gather across the coast in efforts to rid our waterways, beaches, and bayous of marine debris.
