SUMMARY: DNA played a crucial role in solving the 2003 case of Kevin Lee Francois, who assaulted a freshman at Arizona State University. For years, she feared her attacker was still nearby until DNA linked him to the crime. The FBI is exploring rapid DNA processing, which would allow immediate DNA analysis at the time of arrest, potentially identifying suspects in unsolved cases within 90 minutes. Despite advancements, Texas currently does not permit the use of rapid DNA during arrests, prompting advocacy for its implementation. Ashley Spence is campaigning for this technology to ensure swift justice for victims in Texas.
