Police: Venezuelan politician ran red light in fatal crash
SUMMARY: Miami Police have reversed their initial assessment of a deadly hit-and-run involving Venezuelan politician Jilber Caro. Office potlucks can come with their own set of pitfalls
SUMMARY: As Thanksgiving approaches, office potlucks and holiday gatherings are back, but they come with risks. Experts like Dr. Katherine Schloffer from the University of Maryland Medical Center emphasize the importance of proper food handling, temperature control, and avoiding foodborne illnesses. Food should not be left out for more than two hours to prevent bacterial growth. To minimize risks, maintain hot foods above 140°F and cold foods below 40°F, and avoid cross-contamination with dedicated utensils. When enjoying leftovers, reheat to at least 165°F to ensure safety.

Florida Surgeon General recommends against fluoridation of water by cities
SUMMARY: Dr. Joseph Lipo, Florida’s State Surgeon General, visited Polk County to advise municipalities to cease adding fluoride to water supplies, citing studies linking high fluoride exposure to lower IQs, ADHD, and other neurobehavioral issues in children. He criticized ongoing fluoridation as “public health malpractice.” While the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services recommends a fluoride concentration of 7 mg per liter to prevent tooth decay and minimize dental fluorosis, some experts, including the American Dental Association, argue that water fluoridation benefits public health, especially for those lacking dental care. Recent decisions, like Winter Haven’s, reflect this growing concern.
Florida Surgeon General Joseph Ladapo positioned himself against the American Academy of Pediatrics, the Centers for Disease Control, and the American Dental Association Friday when he came out against community water fluoridation.
