PM Weather(2/1): We dry back out into the Weekend with Spring-like temperatures into next week!
SUMMARY: The weekend has been pleasant, with temperatures reaching a high of 53°F and no rain reported. Despite a deficit in precipitation for January, hopes are high for more rain this month. Tonight, dense fog may form in the valley, impacting visibility, but sunny conditions are expected by late morning. Temperatures will increase, with highs near 60°F tomorrow and potentially close to 70°F by midweek, accompanied by a possibility of rain and thunderstorms. The following week should see above-average temperatures despite a front, which may bring additional rainfall and help alleviate drought conditions.
We gradually warm back up this weekend with much warmer temperatures returning into next week. The next chance for showers comes late next week.

Fight between couple leads to 'rushed mass exodus' at Opry Mills Mall, police say
SUMMARY: Police and First Responders responded to Opry Mills mall amid rumors of a shooting, which later were debunked. The commotion originated from a fight between a woman and her boyfriend, an employee at the mall, with no evidence of a weapon. Witnesses mistook the chaos for a shooting, leading to panic and minor injuries as people rushed to exit the mall. The mall was placed on lockdown while police conducted searches. Many feared for their safety due to recent acts of gun violence, exacerbating the panic. Traffic was also heavily impacted as emergency vehicles responded to the scene.
Police and first responders rushed to Opry Mills Mall following an incident Saturday afternoon, but despite the rumors circulating on social media, that incident was not a shooting, according to officials.

When can parents begin applying for TN school vouchers?
SUMMARY: The Tennessee Education Freedom Act, which provides school vouchers for 20,000 students, passed recently and is awaiting Governor Lee’s signature. Under this bill, eligible families can receive approximately $7,000 to attend private schools, with half of the scholarships subject to income limits. The legislation has sparked passionate reactions from both supporters and opponents, particularly in Wilson County, where local leaders expressed strong opposition. Despite community pushback, all three local lawmakers voted for the bill. The Department of Education is already preparing for implementation, allowing families to enroll students for the upcoming school year.
Now that the governor’s school voucher bill has passed, parents have questions about how it’ll work.

PROTECTING PRIVACY: Your personal information can be tracked, bought and sold
SUMMARY: Hyperspecific advertising targets vulnerable groups like military members, cancer patients, and seniors with Alzheimer’s disease, often using personal data traded by legitimate companies and stolen by hackers. Information from online activity, location, and health data is valuable to businesses, leading to targeted ads and scams. For example, a company mailed cremation ads to chemotherapy patients, and military members’ personal data was bought cheaply. Experts warn that personal data is easily accessible and can be misused by anyone, including scammers. To protect privacy, experts recommend using secure browsers, rejecting cookies, limiting app permissions, and avoiding public Wi-Fi.
