Petal police continuing investigation into deadly early-morning shooting
SUMMARY: An investigation is underway in Pedal following an early morning shooting that left 27-year-old Bernell Gold dead. Around 3:15 a.m., a woman reported to Pedal Police that her ex-boyfriend was banging on her door. After he forced his way inside, another man in the home shot him. Gold later died at the hospital. The Forest County Coroner identified the deceased, and no arrests have been made yet. The investigation continues.

The heat index varies, with the highest being 109 in Seminary. Tonight, showers will diminish with lows in the mid-70s. Saturday and Sunday anticipate a 50% chance of rain and thunderstorms, with highs in the low 90s. Beachgoers should be cautious of high rip current risks this weekend due to Hurricane Barrel, which affects Gulf wave heights. Barrel is expected to make landfall between Brownsville and Houston, Texas.
