Plans to bring professional soccer to Jackson suspended
SUMMARY: The KSG Hank Aaron Sports Academy has suspended plans to establish a professional soccer team in Mississippi in collaboration with the National Independent Soccer Association (NISA) due to legal issues surrounding Smith-Wills Stadium’s deed. CEO Tim Bennett has been pursuing this initiative since 2019 and expressed disappointment over the setback. He highlighted past successful ventures with state governors, but now must focus on resolving the ongoing legal complications before determining the next steps. Despite these challenges, he remains optimistic about the potential for soccer in Mississippi by 2026.
