Ping pong balls fly at Atlanta City Hall | FOX 5 News
SUMMARY: During a city council meeting in Atlanta, opponents of the Public Safety Training Facility, known as “Cop City,” disrupted proceedings by hurling ping pong balls, symbolizing the 100,000 signatures they collected to place the issue on the November ballot. Protesters accused city leaders of voter suppression, demanding that the decision be put to the public. The issue remains unresolved in federal court, with the council unlikely to call for a referendum, as many support the facility, which has faced criticism from environmental and civil rights groups. Tensions rose as arrests were made during the chaotic demonstration.
An audience filled with demonstrators against the construction of the Atlanta Public Safety Training Facility chanted “You dropped the ball,” while hurling ping pong balls during an Atlanta City Council meeting.
