Suspect killed in standoff with law enforcement in Santa Rosa County
SUMMARY: A suspected child predator, Juan Puente Jr., is dead following a police chase and two shootouts in Mobile County. The confrontation began when deputies attempted to stop Puente for alleged internet crimes against children. After a failed traffic stop, which included an exchange of gunfire, Puente barricaded himself in his garage on Ideal Street. Negotiators were unsuccessful in persuading him to surrender, leading to another shootout where Puente was shot multiple times by law enforcement and pronounced dead. No officers were injured, and witnesses captured footage of the events, highlighting the tense exchanges. Puente was a father of two.
