Pine Belt honors fallen law enforcement officers
SUMMARY: Forest and Lamar County leaders came together to honor 11 fallen members of law enforcement from the Hattisburg Police Department and Forest County Sheriff’s Office. Mayors Toby Barker and Tony Ducker declared the day as Peace Officer Memorial Day. Each officer’s name was read aloud as a rose was placed in a vase, followed by a gun salute and the playing of TAPS. Dr. Eddie Holloway emphasized the importance of remembering these officers, who are not gone as long as they are remembered. The community’s support was appreciated, and events like Coffee with a Cop help honor their memory during National Police Week.
