Petal man sentenced for sexual battery
SUMMARY: A Petal man was sentenced to serve 30 years for the sexual battery of an underage child dating back to 2021. David Williamson was arrested in November 2022 and charged with possession and production of child pornography, two counts of sexual battery, and child exploitation. Judge Robert Helfrich sentenced Williamson to 30 years, with 20 of those years to be spent behind bars and the other 10 suspended. After his release, Williamson will be required to register as a sex offender yearly. This prevents the child from having to take the stand and relive what they went through. Also, Williamson cannot have any form of contact with the victim or their family.
