Petal Fire Department beginning process of obtaining two, new fire engines
SUMMARY: The Pedal Fire Department has initiated paperwork for two new fire engines, requested by Chief Maran Sims at a recent Board of Aldermen meeting, costing approximately $2.4 million. The current fleet is aging and increasingly costly to maintain. The new Pierce trucks, chosen based on the city‘s needs and projected growth, are expected to last 15 to 20 years and could enhance the city’s fire rating. Chief Sims anticipates it may take up to two years to receive the first truck, with an additional six months for the second truck.
