SUMMARY: The record for year-end holiday travel was set in 2019 with 119 million travelers. After a roof collapse at a church in September 2022, members have held an open house for their new church. The collapse is seen as a sign that the church should grow and expand. Members hope that the church will continue to grow and make a statement that it is what God has blessed them with. Reverend Ricky Lindsey is overseeing the church and they have decided to keep the old church and possibly turn it into a recreational center.

SUMMARY: WDVA celebrates Black History Month by highlighting Tim Cook, a Chickasaw County native redefining the cowboy image in Hollywood. A Rodeo Champion and skilled stuntman, Cook recalls his early love for rodeo, which led him to impressive stunts in major films, including “The Harder They Fall.” As he showcases the talents of black cowboys, he emphasizes their significant but often overlooked contributions to the American West, where an estimated one in four cowboys were black in the 1800s. Cook sees his work as a way to honor this history and inspire the next generation of black rodeo performers.

SUMMARY: A significant software glitch is disrupting Mississippi’s driver license bureaus, with operations expected to resume by the week’s end. The Department of Public Safety revealed that a routine update from a third-party vendor caused the issues, resulting in 2 to 3-hour wait times at various offices. Currently, only limited services, such as gun permits and ID cards, are being offered. Commissioner Tindle addressed accountability and future contracts with the vendor to prevent recurrence. He urged the public to remain patient as staff work diligently to resolve the chaos caused by the tech failure.
