Perry Co. EMA using new response system
SUMMARY: Perry County is set to roll out a new three-part emergency response system to help residents and first responders during emergencies. The system includes Hyper Reach for alerts via text, call, or email, I’m Responding for location tracking of first responders, and Rapid SOS for locating those in need. This system will benefit both neighbors and first responders, especially in rural areas. All landline phones will be automatically enrolled in the system, and residents can sign up for weather and other alerts by texting a number provided. The system is expected to be up and running by the end of May.
Perry County EMA Director Chase Dewitt said the system is a first for the county, and that their previous response had become outdated.
