Pea Ridge student killed in car crash
SUMMARY: Gavin Bivens, a Pea Ridge Junior High student, tragically died after a head-on collision while riding a dirt bike in Garfield. Gregory Payne, the driver of the car involved, has been arrested and faces multiple charges, including driving while intoxicated and negligent homicide. Witnesses reported seeing two bikers before hearing the crash, and upon arrival, one saw Payne standing over Bivens, who was airlifted but later died at the hospital. Payne, who has a history of 14 prior arrests, is being held in Benton County Jail on a $300,000 bond as the community mourns Gavin’s loss.
14-year-old Gavin Bevins, a ninth-grader in the Pea Ridge School District, died Saturday in a head-on car crash.

Decatur BBQ Fest

Arkansas father and son reunite after dramatic lifesaving rescue
SUMMARY: In late July, Devin Gardner and his 12-year-old stepson, Jordan, were in a car accident in Alabama. After the crash, Jordan bravely walked two miles at night to seek help, ultimately saving Devin’s life. The heartfelt reunion took place at the Eugene Tobin Healthcare Center, where Devin, now well enough to leave his hospital bed, thanked Jordan for his incredible bravery. Recognized as a hero, Jordan received a certificate and medal from the hospital staff. Despite facing challenges due to autism and speech issues, Jordan’s courage shone brightly, cementing a strong bond between father and son.
On July 27, 12-year-old Jordan walked two miles in the dark to find help after a crash in Franklin County. His bravery saved his stepdad’s life.
