PCC GulfChem bringing operations to the Gulf Coast
SUMMARY: A chemical manufacturing company, PCC Group, is investing over half a billion dollars to build a chlorine production plant in Harrison County, Mississippi. This project, in collaboration with Kmore Titanium Technology, will establish a facility with a capacity of 340,000 tons of chlorine annually. IMMS President Dr. Moby Solangi in studio to talk about cold stunned turtles, give update on
SUMMARY: Dr. Mobi Salangi from The Institute for Marine Mammal Studies discussed the cold-stunned sea turtles arriving from Massachusetts. They can’t regulate their body temperature during cold fronts and often develop pneumonia when they fail to migrate south. Twenty-three turtles will be flown in for rehabilitation, taking around three to four months, with support from Mississippi State University’s veterinary team. Once recovered, many will be released with satellite tags for tracking. Salangi also mentioned four dolphins found dead at Petit Bois Island, with ongoing necropsies to investigate the cause, which may be environmental or indicative of an epidemic.

Coast Life: “The Singing Christmas Tree” brings carols and holiday spirit together
SUMMARY: The Singing Christmas Tree at First Baptist Church is a beloved Gulf Coast tradition, combining carols and a beautifully lit tree. For over 27 years, the church has created a magical experience, involving hundreds of volunteers who build the 30-foot tree and prepare music, drama, and dance. This year, Pamela Jones will perform under the tree’s star. After a brief hiatus, the event returned last year, resonating deeply with the community. The production, which has been part of local Christmas memories since 1984, brings together church members and the community for a celebration of unity and tradition.
In Biloxi, a decades-old Coast Life tradition brings the carols and the Christmas tree together.
