Party leaders push Mississippians to vote in presidential election
SUMMARY: As the election approaches in 28 days, both Republican and Democratic parties are ramping up efforts to mobilize voters to cast their ballots. State GOP leaders highlight the impact of Biden administration policies on voters’ decisions, while Democrats focus on a hopeful future. Mississippi’s Democratic efforts extend to aiding other battleground states. Both parties emphasize the importance of policy records in determining voter choice, particularly concerning healthcare and education funding. Governor Reeves questions Americans’ current well-being compared to four years ago, attributing inflation to current policies. The countdown continues, with key voting deadlines approaching in early November.

Clarke County EMA collects items to help Hurricane Helene victims
SUMMARY: In Clark County, donations are being collected for victims of Hurricane Helen. News 11’s Diamond Palor reports that the Emergency Management crew, led by director Latasha Evans, is mobilizing supplies to aid those affected in North Carolina. Evans emphasizes the importance of community support during such crises, stating, “It’s better to give than to receive.” Multiple donation centers are set up, including the Clark County EMA building and town halls in Puda, Stonewall, and Shabuta, where individuals can drop off essential items like baby wipes.
