SUMMARY: Twenty-nine young women from across Mississippi have arrived in Meridian for the Distinguished Young Woman of Mississippi program. Throughout the week, they will engage in daily practices, social events, and community service projects. Competitions will take place from Thursday to Saturday, with one participant earning the chance to represent Mississippi in Mobile next summer. Current titleholder, Satie Perkins, advised the participants to cherish the experience and focus on making friends rather than just the competition outcome. The public is encouraged to attend an autograph party on Tuesday at 4:30. Perkins emphasized living in the moment and valuing the friendships made.

Each young lady will compete on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday for the opportunity to represent Mississippi next summer in Mobile.
