Parents must be responsible for carelessness
SUMMARY: Jackson police are worried about youth following a series of incidents, including the neglect of a five-year-old. The aunt and cousin of the boy were arrested and charged, and the police chief said the child’s mother had been hospitalized. The boy appeared incoherent when found and was taken to the hospital. The two women also had other children in their care. The police chief said the adults involved need to be held accountable for their carelessness. The department is working with Child Protective Services to ensure the children are properly cared for.
