Oxford Olympian gives a showcase to pole vaulters
SUMMARY: At Tupelo High School’s Blue Ace Entertainment Field Events Extravaganza, two-time Olympic medalist Sam Kendricks, an Oxford High alum, gave pole vaulters the chance to learn from a top-tier athlete. Kendricks, who set a personal best on the track during his senior year, provided pointers during the competition and later showcased techniques for safe pole vaulting. The athletes were thrilled to vault in front of Kendricks, with one saying, “It’s cool to say I’ve vaulted with an Olympian.” The event offered valuable insights and an unforgettable experience for the students participating.
