The funds are provided through a grant from the United States Department of Agriculture’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS). The grant will support a project to improve the understanding of CWD and develop better testing protocols. The MDWFP’s CWD program aims to increase hunter participation in monitoring and protecting the state‘s deer population. This funding will help detect CWD in deer populations earlier and protect the hunting and outdoor tourism industry in Mississippi.
