Orchestra director at USM to conduct his final symphony Saturday
SUMMARY: Dr. Michael Miles, who has led the Southern Miss Symphony Orchestra for the past six years, is retiring after nearly four decades in education. His final performance, titled “Titan,” will be the orchestra’s last of its 104th season. Miles has impacted thousands of young music students during his career and his students speak highly of his professional attitude and dedication. The performance will feature Gustav Mahler’s Symphony Number One, the piece that inspired Miles to pursue a career in music education. The new director, Dr. Gregory WC, will take over from Miles and comes from Austin PE State University in Tennessee.

Man killed when asphalt dumped onto him
