Though the long hours limit his time, he expresses a commitment to his role and plans to stay as long as needed. The board will consider hiring new officers at their next meeting on September 10th.

Search crews spent Monday working to find missing swimmer in Lee County

SUMMARY: The search for a missing swimmer in Lee County has transitioned from a rescue to a recovery mission. Sheriff Jim Johnson indicated that it is unlikely 37-year-old Josh Mallet, who disappeared while to swim across 20M Creek, is still alive. Mallet went missing near the County Road 2578 bridge on Sunday. Rescue teams searched the swollen creek by boat, but efforts shifted focus as the situation grew grim.
