One-vehicle accident in Aberdeen claims a woman’s life

SUMMARY: A single-vehicle in Aberdeen, Mississippi, resulted in the of 73-year-old Lela Swindle Pate on October 29. Pate was driving a 2016 Hyundai Elantra south on Coontail Road when she lost control and struck a tree. Both Pate and a member in the vehicle were trapped but were rescued by first responders. Pate was transported to NMMC-Gilmore Amory but succumbed to her injuries, while the passenger was taken to NMMC- and later moved to Memphis. The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the crash; Pate was wearing a seatbelt at the time.

Beth Ann White's attorney appeals her conviction

A jury found her guilty on multiple counts of aggravated DUI and DUI 4th offense, leading to a total sentence of 110 years in prison. The crash also left Conaway’s two other with severe injuries. White has a documented history of DUIs, with several offenses recorded between 2014 and 2016, and is currently held at the Central Mississippi Correctional Facility.
