One person injured after retaining wall collapsed in Oxford

SUMMARY: A trench collapse in Oxford, Mississippi has left a person fighting for their life. The collapse occurred in front of Coleman Funeral Home along Highway 7. First responders were able to free the person from the trench at 8:22 am this morning. The collapse was reported to Lafayette County's Public Information Officer at around 5:15 pm last night. Pictures from before the incident show the scene, taken by Colby Spruill of the North Mississippi Storm Chasers and spotters. The cause of the collapse is still unknown and the rescue led to the shutdown of a portion of Highway 7. This is a developing story.
