'Unique' evidence used to charge woman accused of causing deadly Hillview crash
SUMMARY: Dawn Middleton, 31, was charged with driving under the influence and two counts of murder following a June 5 crash that killed 77-year-old Phyllis Elzey and her 76-year-old husband, Richard. Before the incident, Middleton’s husband, who was incarcerated, urged her during a recorded jail call to stop driving due to her drug use. Ignoring his pleas, she ran a red light and collided with the Elzeys’ truck. Evidence, including video footage of the crash and the jail call, led to her arrest. Middleton was arraigned with a bond set at $1 million, leaving the Elzey family devastated.

AED donated in memory of Lucy Nash
SUMMARY: In memory of Lucy Nash, a fourth grader who tragically died after collapsing at school, the DEIST program Heart Saver is donating 14 automated external defibrillators (AEDs) to Henderson schools, ensuring each school in the county has one. These devices deliver electric shocks to restore the heart’s rhythm during cardiac emergencies. Lucy’s parents expressed deep gratitude, calling the donation a beautiful tribute to their daughter and a way to continue her legacy by potentially saving lives. Henderson’s superintendent, Dr. Bob Lawson, emphasized that these additional AEDs enhance student safety in schools where defibrillators were already available.
