On anniversary of Oct. 7 attacks, Middle East delegation continues to crusade for peace
SUMMARY: Today marks one year since Hamas’s surprise attack on Israel, which initiated a prolonged conflict resulting in over 12,200 fatalities, mostly civilians, and the abduction of 250 individuals. Amid ongoing violence, a delegation of Muslims, Jews, and Christians, part of the NGO Shiraka, is working globally to promote peace and understanding across cultures. Israeli delegate Ashley Waxman shared her personal tragedy, with her cousin still missing. Peace Ambassador Fama Al Harb emphasized the importance of dialogue in combating anti-Semitism. While Shiraka advocates for cooperation, the ongoing death toll in Gaza raises questions about Israel’s military strategies and potential peace agreements.
Sharaka, a non-governmental group of Arabs, Jews and Muslims, strives to build bridges on a mission of friendship. ABC11’s Joel Brown reports.

Aid pours into North Carolina; dozens still missing | North Carolina
SUMMARY: Hurricane Helene has devastated western North Carolina, with a death toll of at least 230 and 62 reported missing.
