Olive Branch native helps decorate White House for the holidays
SUMMARY: For the second consecutive year, Valerie Cox from Olive Branch, Mississippi, was selected to help decorate the White House for Christmas. Notified in early October, Cox planned her trip to Washington, D.C., considering her previous experience to pack and schedule more effectively. She was part of 300 volunteers working under the theme “Magic, Wonder, and Joy” for the Holidays at the White House Display in late November. Cox’s familiarity with the event allowed for a more efficient decoration process. The White House showcased 98 Christmas trees adorned with nearly 34,000 ornaments and lit by over 142,425 holiday lights.

Robert St. John: Rolling Fork is truly rising
SUMMARY: Since 2017, I’ve hosted over 1,350 travelers on more than 55 trips across Europe. What began as a single trip grew into a second business, taking up four months each year. Along the way, I’ve formed lasting friendships, especially with people from the South. One such person is Andy Anderson from Rolling Fork, Mississippi, who, after a devastating EF4 tornado in 2023, co-founded Rolling Fork Rising to help rebuild his community, focusing on helping renters left without homes. Their model, built on accountability and education, is making a real difference. Meeting people like Andy highlights the power of resilience and community.
