SUMMARY: The White House has recognized of Mississippi professor David Holin for his efforts to address food insecurity through the National Institutes of and USDA-funded Food Master initiative. This program engages scientists, teachers, and in using food to enhance STEM education. Recently, it won the White House’s Year of Open Science Recognition , leading to an invitation for the winning teams to celebrate at the White House. The National Institutes of Health awarded Holin $11.35 million through the Science Education Partnership Award to develop a nutrition-based STEM education program called Learning Science.

2 in custody in Adams County shooting
