Ole Miss freshman student found dead on campus

SUMMARY: Cameron Tucker Parsons, a 19-year-old Ole Miss student, was found unresponsive in his room and passed away on October 6. Parsons was pursuing a Bachelor of Accountancy degree and was a freshman at the time of his death. He was born on February 8, 2004, and previously attended French Camp Academy. Visitation and a funeral service will be held on October 11. Parsons is survived by his parents, two sisters, and one brother. Wade Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

MAIS approves consolidated classes, revamped playoff format for 2025-2027 seasons

SUMMARY: Starting in the 2025-26 athletic calendar, the Mid-South Association of Independent Schools (MAIS) will restructure its competitive field, reducing from six classes to four to enhance competitive balance and expand championship opportunities. In 11-man football, classes 4A, 3A, and 2A will compete in multiple districts, with playoffs organized into divisions based on schools’ power point averages. Class 4A features three playoff divisions, while classes 3A and 2A have two divisions each. A majority of teams in each class will qualify for championship contention. Class 1A will compete in 8-man football with two divisions. MAIS includes 120 schools across four states and over 40,000 students.

Rep. Trent Kelly celebrates retirement from military with ceremony in capitol
