Capitol Police host meet and greet

SUMMARY: Capitol Police hosted a meet-and-greet Tuesday to engage with the community and foster trust, featuring a panel discussion with law enforcement leaders. This event coincided with the indictment of two former Capitol Police officers, Michael Rhinewalt and Stephen Frederick, charged with manslaughter for the fatal shooting of 25-year-old Jaylen Lewis in September 2022. The officers allegedly acted without justification. Rhinewalt has been on administrative leave since January, while Frederick resigned and later worked as a deputy. Law enforcement emphasized accountability to maintain public trust and ensure officers act responsibly.
