SUMMARY: During a tense protest at the Oklahoma State Capitol, concerned families and community members gathered to voice their grievances about the state’s Department of Human Services (DHS). Emphasizing the need for reform, speakers highlighted critical issues surrounding child protective services, foster care, and adult protective services, calling for investigations into claims of abuse within the system. Representative JJ Humphrey advocated for governmental accountability and action. Although DHS acknowledged their commitment to child safety, they maintained confidentiality regarding individual cases. The community remains steadfast in demanding transparency and calls for thorough audits of the agency’s practices.

SUMMARY: Local property owners are fighting against Phillips 66, which plans to build a crude oil pipeline through their land using eminent domain. Longtime farmer Don Crow describes the damage to his property, worsened by recent rainfall, which has transformed usable land into a muddy mess. Crow and neighbors, affected despite not having their land taken, are in district court contesting the project, which they argue is poorly managed. Phillips 66 claims the project serves a public good and that homeowners rejected fair compensation. Legal resolutions are anticipated to drag on into the following year, potentially increasing damage.
