Oklahoma budget talks indicate state may have less money to work with
SUMMARY: Oklahoma may face budget constraints this year due to revenue forecast declines, prompting Governor Kevin Stitt to request state agencies submit flat budgets. Sales tax revenues have decreased, and Senate Appropriation Committee Chairman Chuck Hall emphasizes the importance of a transparent budgeting process. Stitt proposed an income tax cut in his State of the State address, suggesting it would keep $202 million in residents’ pockets. However, Hall is cautious about cutting revenue given declining projections for the upcoming fiscal year. The impact of recent tax decisions, including a grocery tax cut, will be assessed, with lawmakers aiming to finalize budget strategies soon.

OTA to resume Cleveland County turnpike plan after legal battle
SUMMARY: The Cleveland County Turnpike project is back on after being delayed for over a year due to legal challenges. The Oklahoma Supreme Court ruled in favor of the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority (OTA), allowing work to resume. A new route for the southern extension is being considered, possibly between 48th and 72nd streets, aiming to redirect heavy traffic from Oklahoma City. The project faces resistance, with concerns that it could affect homeowners in the new route area. The OTA insists that protecting families is a priority, though critics argue the turnpike is unnecessary and could cause harm to local communities.
