SUMMARY: Officials are not concerned about the rain today as they have prepared for future rain events. They are currently pushing over 13,000 cubic square feet per second of water through the spillway floodgates, which is enough to fill around four and a half swimming pools per second. The water release has reduced flooding concerns, and with the help of a former National Weather Service forecaster and hydrologist, they are better prepared for upcoming storms. Earlier in the week, the Pearl River at Jackson crested at minor flood level stage, but no structures or roads were harmed. They do not anticipate any flooding from the rain today or in the following days.
